Did I Go 0–2 or 2–0 In Marriages?
Different Way’s To Look At A Negative Situation
--
What Does The Scoreboard Really Tell You?
Don’t ask me why but as I’m sitting here on this cold and icy day a thought came into my mind about my past. A past that unfortunately involves me being married twice and both ended in divorce. Graduating with a Master’s in divorce isn’t something that I’m proud of. It means that I’ve failed twice at being a great husband to my mate. It’s a tough pill to swallow but is there a way for me to flip this negative into a positive?
In trying to find a positive I decided to take this angle. In two different situations at some point and time I was the apple of someone’s eye. So much so, that they decided that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives with me. That equals 2 yes’s that I received when I got down on that bad right knee and asked for their hand in marriage. Before I go further I want to say that I don’t take that lightly one bit and I really do wish things would have gone in a different direction.
Now, back to me trying to sell you on this BS theory. Instead of me looking at this being an 0 for 2 situation I can look at it as going 2 and 0. Think about this for a moment. Did the Buffalo Bills go 0–4 in Super bowls or did they go 4–0 getting to the Super Bowl? If you know football let that sit there and marinate in your mind for a few seconds.
Before I ever went into a court room I started off in a ballroom. I was happy that I was starting a new beginning and I was finished painting that white picket fence. Low and behold my ego and patience decided that they had a surprise wedding gift waiting for me waiting down the road. Those two gifts I wish I would have left wrapped up or lost in transit.
Failure Doesn’t Define Me
I’ll show up at a married couple’s how to stay married seminar right now and wouldn’t be worried one bit about people looking at me sideways. My failures don’t define me they make me stronger. I take a little bit of this and a little bit of that and I apply it to my future. By doing this, it allows me to not make the same dumb ass mistakes over and over. Am I perfect? Hell no or the title to this blog would have been I’m 1–0.
So tell me your thoughts. Am I on a two game loosing streak or am I sitting with an unblemished record? No matter the response I have to give myself a pat on the back for having the balls to continue trying. If you fall off that horse and plan on still getting to your destination you gotta get your ass back up on it. Dust yourself off and keep your head high and you will eventually erase that zero.
