Hurt Goes Away Scars Last Forever
A Hill That Is Sometimes Hard To Climb
If you were an active child like I was growing up look down at your knees and see if you have any reminders of childhood. As I look at my right knee I instantly get taken back to the time when I cut my knee on a brick while playing backyard football. Twenty years later, the pain has long been gone but the scar from that day remains.
Now, this same analogy holds true to many of our hearts when it comes to relationships. Everyone has had their heart broken before in their lifetime. At that moment the pain was present and heavy. But as the old saying goes, time heals all wounds and the pain eventually went away.
What doesn’t go away though are the mental scars that you may have accumulated over the years. Those get taken from one relationship to another and can spell doom from the very beginning. It won’t be something that you’re doing intentionally but the other partner in the relationship sometimes gets the raw end of those scars.
I’m guilty of this act 100%. I’ve taken things that have happened to me in past relationships and I used them to help me build walls to block innocent bystanders. In my mind, fool me once shame on me and from there I’m going to do everything in my power to make sure no more fools happen.
