When you think about all-time great performers, immediately Michael Jackson comes to mind. I don’t know any other artist who can be described by articles of clothing and you know who they are talking about. Almost everyone in the world knows who the glove, white socks, and penny loafers belong to.
I don’t know what made me think about Michael Jackson when I started brainstorming on lists today. When he popped up in my mind, I knew I had to pay my respect. At the height of his musical powers, I was only a small kid, but I definitely knew who he was.
The two music videos and songs that drew me in were Thriller and Smooth Criminal. I couldn’t wait to watch those videos every day on MTV.
