- He wasn’t scared of any basketball player. He never stepped on the court and thought that the next player might be better than him.
- He wasn’t scared to take the last shot. Hit or miss, he wanted the ball at the end of games.
- He demanded respect from his teammates. You had to have a strong and winning mentality to play with Kobe.
- He wasn’t ok with being robin. He wanted to be batman. Kobe was an Alpha male, and he didn’t try to hide it.
- He never took a game off. I never watched a game and said, “Damn, Kobe didn’t do shit this game”.
- He wanted to be better than Michael Jordan. How many basketball players believe that when they retire, they should be looked at as the greatest? He did!
- He was able to bounce back from adversity. Right or wrong, guilty or innocent, he was always able to keep that laser focus on his goals.
- He was able to win 2 NBA Championships without Shaq. I never thought he would win a chip without the big fella. Kobe shut my mouth and ended any doubt that I had.
- He willed himself and his teammates to victory over the 2010 Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals. The guy just refused to lose to them again and did whatever it took to win that championship.
- After tearing his Achilles tendon during a game, instead of being carted off, the guy went to the free-throw line and made two foul shots. He then walked off the court under his own willpower.
I’m glad I got the chance to watch Kobe throughout his entire career. He definitely left an imprint that will never be forgotten. R.I.P Kobe!
