1. Attend Events In Your Sector- Whatever field you are involved in, there should be events or meetups that you can attend to meet new people. You want to know who else is doing what you do.
2. Be Able To Speak Clearly And Explain The Services You Provide- Meeting people but not knowing or failing to explain your services is working backward. When a person leaves your presence, they should know what you do and the services you provide.
3. Remember That A Closed Mouth Doesn’t Get Fed- For those who may not know what that means, not speaking up or asking questions will cause you to miss out on potential opportunities. Always let your voice be heard and never think you have all of the answers.
4. Have A Way To Give Yourself To Others- Make sure you have business cards and share your social media addresses with people when you are networking.
5. Be Willing To listen- One of the main ways to build relationships is to listen. Sometimes you have to hit the mute button so you can hear how you could potentially help someone. You can also learn a lot from people by listening. There is always someone out there who has more knowledge than you.
