- Understand That They Are Becoming Independent Human Beings- They may not lean on mom and dad as much as they used to when they were younger.
- Give Them A Little Rope To Figure Things Out- Instead of fixing every problem for them, give them a chance to figure out the solution for theirselves.
- Show Interest In The Things That They Like To Do- It might not be something you are into personally, but make it be. There should never be a time when your kids think you don’t give a damn about what they like or are interested in.
- Reel Them Back In When They Start Going Off The Path- Attitudes and smart remarks may start to pop up during the pre-teen years. As a parent, don’t be scared to reel them back in when needed and get them back on the respectful path.
- Start Holding Them Accountable For Their Actions- They should know that there are consequences for every action.
- Embarrass Them Sometimes- My daughter hates when I attend one of her school functions, and I take pictures of her and post them on my Facebook page. She thinks it’s lame, but do you think I care? Nope
