  1. After a breakup, give yourself some time to recover. You won’t do yourself or the next person you are with a favor by jumping right back into a relationship.
  2. Take some time for yourself. When you are in a relationship, you spend a lot of time with the other person. After a breakup, go do some of the things that you like to do.
  3. Don’t question or blame yourself after the breakup. Don’t go into that black hole of depression where you are blaming yourself for the breakup. It takes two to make a relationship work and fail.
  4. Give yourself a time frame of when you will start dating again. After taking some time off for yourself and you feel you are getting over the other person, give yourself a time frame to start dating again.
  5. Get angry, cry, or whatever it takes legally and safely to get all of the emotions you have pinned up out.
  6. Get rid of all of the things that may still connect you to your ex. Sitting at home staring at old pictures or items that remind you of your ex will not allow you to get over that person.
